From the time I was five to fifteen years old, my dream was to be a writer when I grew up. I used to write little stories in my notebooks all the time. As I got older, I decided I no longer wanted to be a writer, and started attending James Madison University as a business management major. My new dream was to be an event planner after college. I soon realized I really disliked my major, as the majority of classes I was required to take were in math, my least favorite subject. After leaving James Madison, I attended Northern Virginia Community College where I took a communication class with an excellent professor who encouraged me to change my major to communication. When I graduated from NOVA, I began attending GMU this past fall as a communication major with a concentration in journalism. I hope to write and edit for the entertainment section of a newspaper or magazine when I finish school. I look back and realize how ironic it is that I am actually pursuing the first career goal that I ever had.
I have had a great deal of experience as a researcher throughout the courses I took in high school and college. I am experienced in using information databases, such as Proquest, LexisNexis Academic, and GMU e-journals, as I have utilized them to obtain important data for several pieces of writing. Throughout college and prior to attending college, I have been writing extensively for many classes. I have written a variety of forms of writing, including a memoir, academic research paper, multimedia project, which included a written piece, and blog posts.
In order to be successful in my assignments, I proofread and edit my work to ensure that it is free of errors. I also make sure to read through all the directions of each assignment thoroughly, so I do not forget to include any requirements. Lastly, it is very important for me to manage my time by making a schedule of the assignments I must complete each week, as I am very busy with school and work.
